Food at the Lodge

Food here is not an afterthought, it's one of the reasons people stay longer than they planned.

At the heart of it is Pakistan on a plate; the food we grew up on, done with a little more care than usual. Think Karachi's street food brought indoors and done right: crisp, spiced, and full of that chaotic flavour the city is known for, but plated with the kind of attention street food never gets. Alongside that, we serve the homemade classics, the daals, the karahis, the beef boti things most of us grew up eating at someone's dining table, except here every layer of flavour is pushed a little further, every spice given its due respect. Then there's dessert, and this is where the orchards outside really show up. Seasonal fruit tarts, pies and crumbles, made with whatever's ripe that week apricot, apple, or cherries. Whatever the trees are giving, turned into something light and unexpected at the end of a heavy meal. And yes, tucked into all of this, a taste of Hunza too, a few dishes rooted in this valley's own food, just enough to remind you exactly where you are. Behind all of it is our chef, who treats every meal, whether it's breakfast for two or dinner for the whole lodge, with the same unhurried attention. Nothing rushed, nothing reheated, nothing sent out unless it's ready. Meals at Silk Route Lodge are served in a communal setting. You can order what you like or join us for the family meal either way, expect company at the dinner table. Come hungry; you may arrive for the mountains, but the food might just be what makes you stay.
